Diploma in Practice Management
Mary has been working with Dr Monckton and the team since 2002. Her role is to manage the practice and the team, providing support to our orthodontists and staff to ensure they are able to provide the best possible orthodontic treatment and service to our patients and their families.
Mary enjoys working with the great team at Torque Orthodontics and the positive results we achieve for our patients. She has lived and worked in the Mackay district for over 20 years and is married to Terry. They have two children, who are both attending university, and two spoilt pets. Mary enjoys running, swimming and spending time with family and friends.
Bachelor of Oral Health
Alarna is a familiar face at Torque Orthodontics. She’s our longest serving staff member and has worked with Dr Monckton since 1999. During this time Alarna worked as a Dental Assistant and gained extensive training and experience in all areas of the practice.
After a decision to further her career, Alarna completed her Bachelor of Oral Health at Central Queensland University in 2014 and returned to work in our practice in the role as an Oral Health Therapist. Alarna continues to develop her knowledge and skills, keeping up to date with new techniques to ensure all our patients receive high quality oral health care during their orthodontic treatment.
Alarna enjoys travelling, going to the footy and loves spending time with family and friends.
Bachelor of Health Science (Public Health)
Robyn is a Dental Board-registered dental hygienist. She qualified as a Dental Therapist in Townsville in 1978 and commenced her dental career with Queensland Health, where she worked extensively with children in regional and remote areas throughout Queensland.
Two decades later, Robyn returned to university to complete her Dental Hygiene Degree. She graduated from the University of Queensland and the Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Health Science (Public Health) in 2000 and joined the Torque Orthodontics team in 2003. In her role as a dental hygienist. Robyn assists our doctors with various duties and continues to expand her knowledge and skills, implementing new techniques to provide exceptional care to our patients.
When not at work Robyn loves nothing more than to spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. You’ll see her most days walking her dogs on the beach or practicing karate. (By the way she has her 5th Dan black belt in Shotokan Karate). “I love working here with Dr Monckton and the team at Torque Orthodontics. Our practice maintains a high level of patient outcomes which is nurtured in a warm friendly atmosphere. Our patients really appreciate this. Patients love their new smiles!”
Bachelor of Oral Health
Ashleigh joined the Torque Orthodontics Team in 2015 and completed her certificate III in Dental Assisting before deciding to further her studies as an Oral Health Therapist.
Ashleigh completed her Bachelor of Oral Health at CQU Rockhampton in 2020 and has since returned to Torque as a full-time Oral Health Therapist. Ash has loved transitioning into her new role as an OHT and continues to develop her skills and knowledge within the dental industry so she can provide her patients with the best quality care.
When not working at Torque Orthodontics, Ash spends a lot of her time helping out on her family’s cattle property, socialising with family and friends and doing pretty much anything outdoors.
Certificate IV in Dental Radiography
Emma has been a part of our team since 2001, initially working as a chairside assistant and lab technician, before moving into the role of Treatment Coordinator in 2009.
Emma enjoys her role and loves helping our patients and their families navigate through the process of starting their orthodontic journey.
In her spare time, Emma loves spending time with her husband Sean and three teenage children, all of whom have been through their own orthodontic journey here at Torque.
Cert III in Business Administration (Medical)
Danielle has been with the Torque team since commencing her business traineeship at the end of 2015 after graduating high school. She gained a certificate III in Business Administration (Medical) during her traineeship while working in the reception.
In 2018, Danielle moved to the role of Treatment Coordinator and has absolutely loved helping her patients commence their Orthodontic journey and seeing the results and confidence built throughout treatment.
On Danielle’s weekends, she loves water skiing, travelling outdoors, dancing and spending time with her partner, family and friends.
Certificate III in Dental Assisting
Tara is an experienced Dental Assistant who joined the Torque team in 2019. Tara enjoys all aspects of dentistry, however, since working in orthodontics has found her passion and loves watching patients smiles change throughout treatment.
In Tara’s spare time, she loves spending time outdoors with her husband, family and friends.
Certificate III in Dental Assisting
Tayla is a Dental Assistant who has over 9 years experience in the dental field. She has excellent knowledge in general dental and complex surgical procedures. She has worked in all aspects of the dental practice from chairside assisting, sterilisation, to leading a helping hand in reception.
Tayla has a small background experience in Orthodontics and is very excited to further her knowledge. She enjoys being able to make people feel welcome, comfort them throughout procedures and most importantly enjoys the satisfaction of the patients end results from treatment.
Tayla enjoys going to the gym, camping and spending time with her husband Tim, dog bear, family and friends.
Certificate III in Dental Assisting
Ophelia joined Torque Orthodontics in 2017 after maternity leave from her previous dental position.
As a past Invisalign patient, Ophelia was excited to work in orthodontics and provide the same excellent patient care and family-feel she received during treatment.
She’s passionate about what she does and enjoys learning new skills. In her spare time Ophelia enjoys spending family time with her husband and three sons.
Certificate III in Dental Assisting
Rory started at Torque Orthodontics in March of 2022. He has recently completed his Certificate III in Dental Assisting. He has enjoyed learning everything there is to learn about Orthodontics and the Dental Industry as a whole.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing sports, especially hockey, and cricket, and also loves spending time with his friends and family including his dog Mac.
Certificate IV in Dental Assisting
Stephanie is an experienced Dental assistant with a decade of expertise, seamlessly integrating her Canadian background with her Australian residency of the past five years. After having specialized in general dentistry, she was eager to embark on a new journey in Orthodontics.
When she's not busy at work, you'll find Stephanie leading invigorating spin classes or enjoying quality time with her family and her adorable golden retriever puppy, Cooper.
Needing a career change from teaching swimming, Erica joined the Torque Orthodontic team in 2023 and has been enjoying learning about the Dental and Orthodontics field. Erica is currently studying her certificate III in Dental Assisting during her Traineeship with Torque Orthodontics. Erica advises “It is a very rewarding job seeing patients lives change just from giving them a new beautiful smile.”
In Erica’s spare time, she loves reading, gym, teaching swimming, DIY/craft and spending time with her family and cat named Fish.
Abbie graduated high school in 2023 and commenced her full time Dental Assistant traineeship with Torque Orthodontics. She is currently working towards completing her certificate III in Dental Assisting and is very excited to become a fully qualified Dental Assistant and to further explore the world of Orthodontics.
On the weekends, you can find Abbie spending time with her friends and family.
Jody was born and raised in the Mackay area and has been in the Dental industry for 19 years. She has a vast knowledge in all general dentistry and has worked in all areas from chair side, reception and management. Wanting a new challenge she made the exciting move to Orthodontics in October 2022.
She is happiest when she is spending time with her family, husband Cameron, two daughters Addison and Piper and their two dogs Izzy and Lulu.
Monique joined Torque Orthodontics in 2015. She was initially in the role of Treatment Coordinator, but since welcoming her children Georgia and Oliver into her and husband Jesse’s life, she has returned to work with our reception team.
Monique is passionate about the work that we do at Torque Orthodontics and enjoys assisting patients on their orthodontic journey and welcoming our patients to our practice every day.
Certificate IV in Dental Radiography
Jess has been part of Torque Orthodontics for many years. She started working with Dr Monckton when she was 15 years old and over the years worked in reception, as a dental assistant and as Treatment Coordinator.
Jess left us when she had her first child and after 7 years and 3 children later she has recently re-joined us to work with the reception team. Patients love jess’ friendly and happy personality and her understanding of our orthodontic practice. It’s great to have Jess back with our team.
Certificate III in Dental Assisting
Alyce is a previous patient of Torque Orthodontics. She has a certificate III in Dental Assisting and a women’s intermediate gymnastics accreditation.
She started working with this lovely team in June 2020. She enjoys to play PC games in her spare time.
Corrine joined Torque Orthodontics as a receptionist in 2014, bringing with her a background in retail. Corrine enjoys helping all of our patients with a wide variety of questions and making their treatment as easy as possible.
Corrine and her husband Stone have a young son so they are kept busy with work and family life.
We’re proud to be an AOAC team-certified practice. Achieving this level of experience is the result of countless hours of education, knowledge, and testing procedures in the specialised field of orthodontics. In fact, AOAC now use our staff to train other practices throughout Australia.
